Jack Duval | principal + senior analyst

Jack is principal and senior analyst of ORIGINAL forensic analysis + visualization (formerly John Duval Associates LLC). He has wide ranging experience in investment products and strategies, Modern Portfolio Theory, damage calculations, supervision and compliance, securities rules and regulations, Registered Investment Advisor practice, and insurance.

Jack is also an expert in the statistical analysis of large datasets as well as the visualization of data.

Since 2004, Jack has been retained in over 175 arbitration cases, participated in dozens of mediations, and has testified or been deposed 30 times in arbitrations or civil proceedings. He has consulted and testified for the FINRA Department of Enforcement in a regulatory matter involving over $220 million of Auction Rate Securities transactions. He is also an arbitrator for FINRA.

Jack holds a MA in Economics from The New School for Social Research as well as undergraduate degrees in Economics and Philosophy from Elon College.

In 2006 Jack completed training at the FINRA Institute at Wharton and holds the Certified Regulatory and Compliance Professional (CRCP) designation. FINRA describes the CRCP program as “a comprehensive and rigorous course of instruction on the foundation, theory and practical application of securities laws and regulation.”

Prior to forming ORIGINAL, Jack worked for 10 years at Merrill Lynch in the 5th Avenue office in New York City, building a successful brokerage team that managed over $275 million in assets for approximately 90 high net worth and institutional clients.

As an independent Registered Investment Advisor, Jack ran a family office for a $100 million net worth family as well as a global macro hedge fund investing in equities, fixed income, currencies, and commodities.
